SURVEY, POSITIONING AND ROV
Workclass ROV systems provide a flexible and powerful platform to undertake a wide range of high quality underwater intervention and sensory tasks in water depths. Such systems are able to conduct survey operation from the sub-surface throughout the water column or assist in the construction of subsea assets, provide routine and emergency intervention during exploration and production, maintain assets and play a key role in the decommissioning at end of field life.
Reef Subsea has recently enhanced its ROV capabilities through the acquisition of several WROV systems by Technocean and through Specialist Subsea Services (S3).
Specialist Subsea Services provides the Group with strong capability in ROV operations as well as in Survey and Positioning Services. In 2012, S³ will have access to the Reef Larissa – sister ship to the Reef Despina – to offer packaged services to their clients encompassing ROV and Survey services.
S3 are active in the construction support, IMR, decommissioning, drilling and renewable market sectors and are staffed with highly qualified and competent personnel.
ROV Services
S3 ROV services address remote intervention for the construction, IMR, drilling and decommissioning phases of subsea Oil & Gas fields, as well as support for all aspects of the Renewable industry. S3 provides Light and Work class ROV spreads and associated tooling for:
- Offshore construction support
- Pipeline commissioning
- Subsea product stabilization
- Offshore field IRM
- Field intervention.
Survey Services
S3 provides all aspects of survey support services from landfall and near-shore surveys in support of Renewable industries to deep water support for offshore developments for the Oil & Gas sector.
These services comprise:
- Survey project management and support
- Inshore/near-shore beach approach navigational, hydrographic and geophysical surveys for cable and pipeline shore-ends and civil construction
- Offshore seabed surveys, such as installation and tow-route corridor surveys, and analogue site surveys
- General navigation support, including vessel, barge and ROV positioning (DGPS) for construction activities
- As-built surveys, including pre-installation surveys, trenching support and out of straightness surveys
- High accuracy subsea positioning including metrology, both acoustic and non-acoustic (mechanical, inertial or photogrammetry) with relative or absolute arrays, to ensure absolute measurement reliability
- Life of field survey activities.
Both S3 and Technocean survey personnel are trained in and have experience of operating a wide range of survey equipment systems.
Data Management Services
S3 offers a range of data management services that provide a value added dimension from data capture to client deliverable:
- Office and vessel based capabilities ensuring time sensitive production
- Turnkey data processing using a suite of domain specific software packages
- 3D data visualization, modelling and analysis
- GIS analysis
- Report generation (project driven)
- Chart series production (project driven)
- Data quality control service (3rd party audits etc)
- Data maintenance (attribution, metadata etc)
- Data repository service (archiving)
- Data catalogue service (register)
- User needs analysis.
S3 understands the importance of open standards and data interoperability to enterprise clients.
Survey Deliverables
Data Processing
Survey data recorded within the NaviScan system is processed using the EIVA processing suite which includes NaviEdit, NaviModel and NaviPlot. The NaviEdit data editing software is designed specifically for editing of marine survey data from singlebeam and multibeam echosounders, scanning sonars, pipe-trackers as well as all survey related secondary sensors such as Gyro, Doppler Log etc.
Reporting
During offshore operations, field reports are created for each key operation. Depending on the size of the survey team onboard, these are written either by the Reports Coordinator or the Online Surveyor. They are then checked by the Party Chief and the S3 office in Aberdeen where the Project Surveyor will also check the document. Once accepted, the field reports are issued to the client.
Data Management
S3's data management philosophy is to ensure that there is no single point of failure that can cause the irretrievable loss of survey data S3 has developed work instructions accordingly.
